Salmon Fishing on the Tweed

We travelled down to the Royal Burgh of Lauder in Berwickshire to fulfil my husband Donalds dream of 'proper' Salmon fishing, a treat for his 40th birthday. The campsite at Thirlestane Castle had a beautiful outlook over the countryside and was not too far from our 'beat' for the next mornings fishing. Arriving at Ladybank the next morning to glorious sunshine, needless to say I was delighted, but doubts were already being cast as supposedly fish come to the surface on the duller days.
